okay so i'm really sorry if this is common knowledge and i just missed it somehow but i wanted to post about what happened to me last week because honestly it was a stressful situation and maybe someone newer like me can avoid it

so i ordered some BPC-157 for the first time and i knew i needed bacteriostatic water to reconstitute it, not sure if everyone calls it that or if there's another term? anyway i went to the grocery store and i just... grabbed sterile water. like the kind you use for contact lenses or whatever. i thought sterile water and bacteriostatic water were basically the same thing and i'm honestly embarrassed that i didn't know the difference

and here's the thing, i didn't even realize my mistake until after i had already mixed it in and was looking at the vial wondering why i was reading conflicting things about storage life. i went back and started googling and that's when i found out that bacteriostatic water has benzyl alcohol in it which actually keeps bacteria from growing over time, and regular sterile water doesn't have that so basically you need to use it almost immediately or it can get contaminated

so now i'm sitting here with a vial i'm not sure is safe to use anymore because it's been like 4 days in the fridge

not sure if this is dumb but my question is basically, is it ruined? should i just toss it? i feel like i wasted money but i also don't want to risk anything

can someone who actually knows what they're doing help me out here

oh please don't feel embarrassed about this!! honestly you're not the first person to make this exact mistake and you definitely won't be the last. the fact that you caught it and are asking questions instead of just injecting away says a lot about how careful you are.

you actually nailed the explanation perfectly. the benzyl alcohol in bac water is what gives it that extended shelf life after reconstitution, usually people say you can store a bac water reconstituted vial in the fridge for 28-30 days or so. with plain sterile water you're looking at using it within 24 hours ideally, maybe 48 if you're being a little lenient, and you have to be super careful about technique.

at 4 days in the fridge I would personally toss it and not feel too bad about the loss. I know that stings when you've spent good money but BPC is something you're putting in your body and it's just not worth the risk. contamination isn't always visible, that's the scary part.

when you get your bac water, which is easy to find online btw, just make sure it says bacteriostatic and not just sterile. and syringes meant for reconstitution help too.

you're going to love BPC-157 once you get going on it. it really helped my knee recovery so much. welcome to the community, you're asking all the right questions!

yeah 100% agree with grace here, just toss it. i know it hurts but its not worth rolling the dice on something youre injecting. contamination being invisible is the key thing people dont get, theres no "it looks fine so its probably fine" with this stuff.

anyway quick followup question for you OP - when you say you grabbed sterile water at the grocery store, was it like the little saline rinse bottles for contacts or was it something else? asking because i wanna make sure youre not also accidentally using something with added stuff in it (some contact lens solutions have preservatives and other chemicals that are definitely NOT what you want)

also where are you planning to source your bac water from? just wanna make sure youre not gonna run into another issue on that end. some people dont realize you can get pharmaceutical grade bac water online pretty easily and cheaply, no need to improvise with anything else

you got the right idea figuring this out BEFORE you used it tho seriously. some people find out the hard way lol

Let me just add a few practical points for OP so this doesn't happen again:

On sourcing bac water:
- Most research chemical suppliers carry it
- Some compounding pharmacies will sell it
- 30mL vials are the most practical size, gives you enough to work with
- Check the label says "bacteriostatic water for injection" - those exact words

On reconstitution going forward:
- Use a clean laminar flow environment if you can, or at minimum work quickly in a low-traffic room
- Alcohol wipe the rubber stopper before every draw, every single time
- Don't reuse needles for reconstitution, just don't
- Date the vial the day you mix it so you're not guessing 3 weeks later

On storage with proper bac water:
- Fridge, away from the door (temperature fluctuates there)
- 28 days is the commonly cited window, I personally don't push past that

The good news is BPC-157 is relatively forgiving once you have the right supplies and your technique dialed in. The learning curve is mostly just the first time. You asked the right questions before injecting something questionable, that's the most important thing. A lot of people don't.

dude honestly good on you for actually researching it after the fact instead of just yoloing it. i made a similar mistake when i first started out, not gonna lie. wasn't bac water specifically but i was super sloppy with my reconstitution technique in general and gave myself a nasty injection site reaction. learned real quick lol

toss the vial 100%, everyone else is right on that. 4 days with plain sterile water is not worth it man. just take the L and reorder. BPC aint the cheapest but it aint worth getting an infection over either

this is SO underrated honestly. i just use a little piece of masking tape and a sharpie. sounds stupid simple but before i started doing it i was legit trying to remember "wait was this last tuesday or the tuesday before that" lmao not great when youre talking about stuff youre putting in your body

also the thing about keeping it away from the fridge door is real, i never even thought about that until someone told me and now i keep mine in the back of the middle shelf. temp stability matters more than people think

OP youre gonna do great once you get the right supplies sorted, BPC was legit one of my fav additions for recovery. just get proper bac water and youre good to go fr

Ha. The masking tape and sharpie system is genuinely how I label everything. People see my fridge and think I'm running a pharmacy. My girlfriend thinks I've lost my mind.

At this point I label my leftovers the same way out of habit. Date written on a piece of tape on the pasta container. Old habits.

okay i gotta push back on this one and i know its gonna ruffle some feathers but COME ON man. laminar flow environment?? for the average person just starting out with BPC?? this is exactly the kind of advice that makes new people feel like this stuff is way more complicated than it needs to be and honestly i think it does more harm than good sometimes

like yes obviously sterile technique matters, nobody is arguing that. but youre out here telling a beginner they need LAB EQUIPMENT to reconstitute peptides?? thats just... no. the vast majority of people running BPC or any other common peptide are doing it on their bathroom counter after wiping everything down with an alcohol wipe and they are FINE. ive been doing this for years, clean surface, alcohol swabs, quick hands, done. never had an issue.

the real basics are what matter - alcohol wipe the stopper EVERY time, dont reuse needles, dont touch the needle tip, dont sneeze on your stuff lol. thats genuinely 90% of the battle right there.

i feel like throwing "laminar flow" at a total newbie is just gonna stress them out or make them think they cant do this safely without spending a bunch of money on equipment they dont need. OP is already stressed enough about the bac water thing, they dont need to think they need a CLEAN ROOM setup on top of it
